My approach
I am an Orton-Gillingham (OG) certified instructor. I use a systematic, multi- sensory approach when teaching reading. I start with a diagnostic session to determine the best starting place for each student and develop an individualized instruction plan to reflect each student's needs. Each session is 55 minutes and I highly encourage a minimum of twice a week to ensure optimal progress. I equate this to going to the gym. Once a week allows you not to fall behind; and twice ensures progress. Most importantly, I create a safe and fun learning environment which builds trust and allows students to thrive.

Why I am a reading instructor
I have dyslexia which was not diagnosed until seventh grade. I can still remember the shame and frustration I felt not being able to keep up with my peers. I had a tutor that saved me. She was a great role model and the reason I am so passionate about teaching struggling readers. I want to give back and be the tutor I was so fortunate to have.
Experience
I graduated from St. Ben's/ St John's University in 2018. I have been tutoring in various capacities ever since. I taught reading for two years through Americorps and studied and practiced for two years under the mentorship of a prominent reading mentor and supervisor. I became Orton-Gillingham certified in 2019. Three years ago I started Leap Forward Learning, my own reading-tutor business.
Metrics
Over the past five years, I have spent over 1,000 hours tutoring students one on one from all over the country. I offer online and in person tutoring. My clients consistently receive positive feedback from teachers at conferences. What sets me apart is the time I take to build relationships with each student and family. By gradually building trust, I engage my students long term; I have seen several of my clients for over three years and have become an integral part of their learning.
